When the Unexpected Happens
In the previous post, I mentioned about alternative measures to market your home including Craigslist, Zillow, and ActiveRain. Just as I did, you probably thought these ideas were simply long shots in selling a home.
Well, I can attest to the success of at least one of the sites. A few days ago, I posted my home on Craigslist for two reasons. The first reason was simply experimental. I wanted to see if any “real” buyers used Craigslist to search for homes or if it was simply just another marketing tool via the web for real estate agents. Second, I wanted to further promote my home on the web to spread the word. My agent is not one of those who uses Craigslist, so I did it myself.
Anyways, on Tuesday I received one of those “random” phone calls on my cell phone. I was just about ready to hit “ignore”, but decided to answer the call. The call was from a nice lady who saw my home on Craigslist and wanted to know if she could come over and see it. I was supposed to have a showing earlier (that didn’t show) and the house was spotless so I figured what the heck. I told the lady to come over in an hour. The lady eventually shows up with her family and I give them all the necessary information regarding the home and they took a tour. I basically told them to let me know if they were interested and we could go from there. As strange as it sounds, they called later in the evening and wanted to put in a offer.
